Sun-baked pumpkin cubes floating in a sweet-sour syrup. Pumpkin cubes refined with honey. They're popular as a delicious side dish - not just for Halloween!
The pumpkin, with its 200 edible varieties, is an absolute and indispensable kitchen staple. For example as a classic accompaniment to meat dishes such as roast pork or with potatoes, leeks and carrots as a hearty stew. The fruit vegetables can be baked right from the heart, in the form of pumpkin feta muffins, as jam or pudding. Pumpkin is low in calories and very rich in vitamins.
Preparation is very easy once you have cracked the hard skin of the pumpkin. Pumpkin pulp can be boiled or baked in the oven. By the way: with some varieties, such as the Hokkaido pumpkin, you can simply eat the peel too!
